Review: Ponies

Ponies
Ponies by Kij Johnson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I wasn't expecting something that dark and didn't think something so short could be so shockingly insightful but is was.
I definitely think reading it would do some good,it tackles an issue that at one point or another we all deal with in a very unique way, that ultimately makes it all the more memorable.

Review: The Blood of Olympus

The Blood of Olympus
The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

There's something impossibly heartbreaking and heartwarming with the end of the series.
I love Percy, I've loved him since PJO, HOH taught me how to love the rest of the characters as well.
Even though Percy,Annabeth and Nico will always have a special place in my heart, I no longer hate that they aren't the stars of this series.

I was kind of sad that at times I felt like in order to make me like Jason more Percy was put down.Percy dying on the ocean floor was just depressing, all so Jason could save the day, no. Im sorry but that's kind of bullshit and we all know it.

The characters feel so real that I imagine how they carry on after and it makes me wonder if things will ever come full circle. The ending was kind of a let down but i think it was time to let the series come to and end.Percy had a good run I wish that it had a more....satisfying ending.

Seriously HUGE SPOILER I really wonder if Leo will ever get to meet his friends again.I really hope so, I feel like even though everyone gets a happy ending amongst themselves, seeing Leo again would just complete the journey.

Review: Born at Midnight

Born at Midnight
Born at Midnight by C.C. Hunter

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I was so not looking forward to writing this review because I honest to god don't know how to rate it.
I liked it,-parts of it- the characters and plot were good. The girls bickering was bordering on annoying but they works past it which was good. I was really liking Kylie until Trey's little visit. after which she decided kissing every guy available was a great way to go

Which brings me to point two= the boy saga.

Don't get me wrong I like the guys, all of them really.Even Perry I think he's fun and totally adorable.

Derek I liked from his first appearance and he's a good guy, there isn't really enough of him to hate.

Trey I don't like. He's impatient, inconsiderate and just an overall ass.I do not look forward to any more of him.(Unless they kill him off-that could be fun)

Lucas.Well I happen to be a sucker for blue eyes and dark hair and I love kittens, so its safe to say Lucas could be a sack of potatoes for all I care,I like him. That kitten bit was just too cute.

As much as I liked these parts i just don't feel right giving it a four star rating. Not as much as because of the content but the execution. The characters kind of suck too.

Review: The Boy Who Sneaks in My Bedroom Window

The Boy Who Sneaks in My Bedroom Window
The Boy Who Sneaks in My Bedroom Window by Kirsty Moseley

My rating: 1 of 5 stars

description

I just...I can't even.I don't even know where to start with this piece of shit.
The characters, the writing, none of it makes any fucking sense whatsoever.

The characters are just so godawful I want to cry. All they ever want to do is suck face and get laid.Jake and Liam are so unrealistically gorgeous that the girls want nothing more than to rip off their clothes and bone them the second they set eyes on them.

And Amber seems to some sort of sex magnet,or a rape magnet because that's all that seems to be happening.( oh but don't worry Liam will save her! Every.Fucking.Time.)
Between that and the consonant winking and smirking and the unbearable amount of pep!!!! that goes into this, I conclude.
Hands down this is the WORST BOOK EVER

The writing is probably the only thing worse than the characters. It's like a five year old threw it together. The whole thing is so fucking ridiculous and unrealistic and stupid it's humiliating.

Review: The Last Guardian

The Last Guardian
The Last Guardian by Eoin Colfer

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

You know its surprising how arduous it is to read the last sentences of your favorite childhood series ever. And I mean I cant be the only one who cried right? Right....?

Picking this up I couldn't help but think back to the first time I was taken away into little 12 yr old Arty's very first artifice,I was sitting outside a kerbside cafe on Dong Khai Street,in the sweltering heat of a HO Chi Minh City in the summer.
I was a little girl again squealing at his ingenious plans and artful trickery, I realize now how much growth Eoin has incorporated into Artemis as the story moves along.
He went from a 12 year old criminal mastermind to a young, questionably insane, man with friends and a family he cares about.

"I would not be the person I am today." He leaned in close and whispered, "I was a broken boy, and you fixed me. Thank you.”

I dont know if the sentimental connection I have to the series got the best of me or if I was finally starting to grasp what was about to happen. but I am not at all ashamed to say that by that point I was well and truly crying. I had to take a moment to collect myself so I could witness the impending doom Arty was walking into. That one line...it just broke me.

“So if you're not Artemis Fowl, then who are you?"

The boy extended a dripping hand straight up. "My name is Orion. I am so pleased to meet you at last. I am, of course, your servant."

Holly shook the proferred hand, thinking that manners were lovely, but she really needed someone cunning and ruthless right now, and this kid didn't appear to be very cunning.
I even liked Orion in his useless short time with us in The Atlantis Complex.

Orion brightened. "I have an idea."

"Yes?" said Foaly, daring to hope that a spark of Artemis remained.

"Why don't we look for some magic stones that can grant wishes? Or, if that doesn't work, you could search my naked body for some mysterious birthmark that means I am actually the prince of somewhere or other.”

Oh how I love you.

But back to the cured Artemis we so love,
“Card five hundred and thirty-four," repeated Artemis. "Of a series of six hundred standard inkblot cards. I memorized them during our sessions. You don't even shuffle." yeah this one.

I loved the ending It was really took me to a place I needed to be with the series ending.
I can go back and re-read these stories, keep encased copies to share with my children and keep the story of a mysterious irish boy and his wild adventures alive.
So someday I will remind myself of all the fun I had reading them.

So yes, I'm sad having to say good bye,but glad to know there always there.

“That will be her undoing," gasped Artemis, already suffering under the weight of the flak jacket. "Artemis Fowl will never be secondary."
"I thought you were Artemis Fowl the Second?" said Holly.”
